PERFUME: THE STORY OF A MURDERER

This project revolves around the shot in the film is of grenuille lying on the stones being ripped apart as the blue aka love and life is being sucked out of him.  As he realised love is not what he wanted and empties himself of it by letting himself be devoured.
Being Historically accurate was very important to this project, from the coat length, down to the cuff size and number of buttons everything was meticulously planned to be set in the time period that he died - 1766. The fabric used was a second hand curtain which I repurposed, painted and embroidered.
Creating perfume from the body: contrasts in the novel - perfume is this beautiful thing that gives grenuille all these magical gifts. Yet its juxtaposed against the death of the women he kills. The blue throughout is because the coat he dies in is blue in the novel.
